Worked over in Photoshop much more than usual.* The scanner made it ultra-dark and grainy, so I had no choice. Scanning has become a much more circuitous process in the aftermath of the Great '07 Mac Smash-Up, but at least it's good practice.

I feel very pleased seeing this one completed and sent off to the framer. Same with Gilliam's Replat 6. It's not because they are the most successful pieces I've done. (Not in my eyes, anyway.) It's because I came very close about a month back to dismantling them both. They had been sitting in dusty tape-plastered limbo since last summer without going anywhere, and I was starting to feel like it was time to give up. But I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat [preen] and also saved myself the amazing nuisance of having to put away the untaped remains in approximately 10,000 different folders. [shudder]

Have I ever mentioned that when I stick the disengaged bits of removable tape to the side of the drawing table, Butterscotch The Evil tries to tug them off and then eat them ?

Truly, Art is Hell.

(*This one, too. Now that I think about it. Maybe I should just stop doing square compositions...?)
