Ceiling Light Fixture Repair ?
I have a fancy-ass ceiling fixture that I would love to have repaired in time for friends coming over on New Year's Day. I live in NE Portland.

Does anyone you know make last-minute house calls on stubborn light fixtures without charging more than the original fixture cost ? I suspect this is a minor problem but am unwilling to risk seriously damaging the fixture by messing with it myself.

Bonus points if they'll take plastic, and I would prefer somebody with the "licensed, bonded, insured" thing rather than your kindly Uncle Joe who could electrocute himself by mistake and land me in a heap of expensive trouble.

Mo, when you find someone, let me know. I have some loose sockets and miscellaneous stuff I need taken care of, and since they involve electricity, I'm opting out of DIY.

Wisely, I do not have one this year. The thought of those three alone in the house with a tree - tippable, breakable, disaster-waiting-to-happen - is more than I could bear, considering I am planning to spend the day sewing anyhow. They could eat the blinds (http://icanhascheezburger.com/2007/12/23/funny-pictures-blinds-nom-nom/), which they normally do anyhow, without holiday trim. Please give Butterbutt our regrets.

Hey, michael ! Good to see you !

I have zero faith in my improvisational technical skills and so should you. But a very nice repairman did come out and give me the rundown and the lamp is now fixed. Whoo-hooo !! All I had to go on before his visit was a lot of flimsy-looking lamp guts and an incomprehensible card-sized diagram that the manufacturer sent along when I requested assistance last year. :/
