Walter Mitten: 1992-2008
Here's a last picture of him, kept company by Butterscotch over the weekend. He died sometime during the small hours of the morning, while everyone was sleeping.



[info]varro took the picture and has been taking great care of Walter in his decline. Thanks, varro.

Goodbye, you old coot. You'll be missed. Here's some salmon for you. Now that you're in the afterlife, your appetite is probably back and you can eat all you want.

Oh, Amy, I'm so sorry.

But he really did have a great and incredibly personable life. I liked Walter a lot.

Awww... BTW, I loved your photo of the catnip patch as the final resting place for beloved kitties. Unfortunately that's not practical where we live, but maybe I'll take some of his ashes when we get them and sprinkle them next to the catnip on the back porch flowerpot.

yes. although we're renters, and so will someday have to leave them behind...but sprinkling some ashes into the catnip plant is fitting, I think.

This is the third animal companion of my friends who has passed this week. :(

From the descriptions here it sounds like he led a really good life.

Yes, he was hideously spoiled and indulged. But he had a tough kittenhood so I figure that was only fair. His original humans neglected him so he decided to move in with us.

My condolences to your friends who said goodbye to their companions, too. :(

I don't know - I was trying to think of 'kitty-heaven'........

Hopefully (surely) he is much happier now - and there is no more suffering - just endless food - naps - and little critters to catch!

I'm sorry for your loss. Somewhere there's some fishies with Walter's (the mole) name on them only he might have to share them with Killer (1976-1986).

I'm so sorry for your loss Ms X. I, too, am a cat lover, have 4 at the moment, & have lost many pets through the years so know how tough it is. I know you through Marisa's & reading your comments there.
Well, kitty heaven is a good place to be with all his favourite food at his paw tips.

I'm sorry to hear about Walter (what a marvelous name for a cat)...from all of the comments here, it sounds like he had quite the fan club. My first "encounter" with Walter was the set of pictures you posted of the New Year's Eve party and his great interest in all the goodies.
